Terms of Use
By using Takbeer Time (the website at takbeertime.com, the public API, and the mobile app), you agree to the terms below. They are short on purpose. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
1. License to use
You're free to use Takbeer Time — read masjid timings, save favourites, set reminders, submit timings, follow keepers, build apps on top of the public API. We grant you this license at no cost and with no warranty.
You may not (a) attempt to break, deface, or attack the service, (b) use it to harass other users, or (c) submit content that is illegal, hateful, or fabricated.
2. Your contributions
When you submit a jamat timing, a review, a suggestion, or a new masjid record, you confirm that:
- The information is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
- You're not impersonating someone else, including time-keepers.
- You grant Takbeer Time a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide license to display, redistribute, and republish that contribution — including via our public API — for as long as the project exists. This is necessary because the timing you submitted today may be guiding someone to jamat tomorrow; we can't pull it from the directory just because you changed your mind months later.
- If you delete your account, your submitted timings remain in the directory but are re-attributed anonymously (as "Deleted user"). Specific submissions can be removed on request — email us.
3. Time-keeper system
Some masjids have one or more time-keepers — community members whose submissions are treated as authoritative for that masjid. The community can follow keepers; keepers can review and accept or decline timing-update suggestions sent to them. Their times override individual user submissions where there's disagreement.
If you're a keeper, you commit to keeping the times reasonably current and to not abusing the role (e.g. by deliberately publishing wrong times, or by accepting suggestions unread).
4. Acceptable use
To keep the directory honest:
- No spam, ad copy, or commercial promotion in submission notes, masjid descriptions, or reviews.
- No fabricated timings — if you've never been to a masjid, don't submit times for it.
- No fabricated masjid records.
- No targeted harassment of other users or keepers.
- No attempts to game the consensus / voting system (sock-puppet accounts, vote brigades, etc.).
We can remove submissions, suspend accounts, or permanently ban users who break these rules. We try to do this rarely and with a light touch — most issues are good-faith mistakes.
5. Termination
You can delete your account anytime — see our Privacy Policy or visit /delete-account.html.
We reserve the right to remove content, suspend accounts, or refuse service when necessary to protect the integrity of the directory or the safety of our users. We don't expect to use this often.
6. No warranty / no liability
Takbeer Time is provided "as is." Times are crowd-sourced and may be wrong, out of date, or temporarily missing. We do our best — including the keeper system, suggestions, consensus algorithms, and push notifications when times change — but you remain responsible for verifying the time before relying on it.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Takbeer Time, its contributors, and its operators are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service — including but not limited to a missed prayer, a wasted trip, or any reliance on a timing displayed by the app.
7. Public API
The API at takbeertime.com/api is open and free for any genuine use, including commercial projects that want to display jamat times to their users. Documentation: /api-docs.html. There are rate limits to keep the service running for everyone — please be reasonable.
If you're building something that will drive sustained heavy traffic (millions of requests / month), email us so we can plan capacity.
8. Disputes
We prefer to handle disputes informally. Email [email protected] describing the issue, and we'll work to resolve it.
If formal resolution is needed, these terms are governed by the laws of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and any disputes shall be heard in the courts of Lahore, Pakistan, unless local consumer-protection law in your jurisdiction grants you stronger rights — in which case those rights apply.
9. Changes
If we change these terms materially, we'll update the "Last updated" date and post a note in the app. Continuing to use the service after changes go into effect means you accept the updated terms.
